Perhaps, she thought, such heavy curiosities were best kept as such until Craig could put all ten of his fingers on anything at all.
Craig made sure to flash her a quick smile to further the fact that he was just joking and took her jacket from her to struggle with hanging it off one of the clothes hangers that resided in the closet, frowning about the unnecessary difficulty that came with breaking two of your fingers. “The worst part” he started absent minded while getting the jacket to finally stay, “Is that when I go to flip someone off it looks like I’m counting to three” he finished with a demonstration of an attempted middle finger salute from his right hand that resulted in the two broken fingers to remain upright while the third considered to bend but gave up part way.
He snorted at her comments, waving them off slightly “She thinks what she likes, who am I to tell her she’s wrong?” he said, slipping past her on the stairs to take the lead on the incredible journey from the bottom to the top and down the hall to the first door on the right that housed his belongings and where he tended to sleep most nights. The computer screen displayed an essay a paragraph and a half in, as well as countless tabs along the task bar and message lights blinking. He wondered absently if Heidi was serious about typing it for him, if he was serious when he requested it and if they did actually work on it, how long it would take before they were inevitably distracted by other tasks.
“We doing this down here, or dare we go up to your room?” She asked, kicking off one boot before looking up at him with a serious expression. “Door open, of course,” She teased, lips curling into a smile.
He was in the midst of starting a sarcastic rebuttal to those farcical fingers when she left a kiss on the poor not quiet mangled digits and he opted instead for a drawn out “Oh Miss Turner! Swoon!” pressing the back of his good hand to his forehead and tipping back slightly as he closed the door.
He succeeded in taking a quick glance at the girl while she removed her coat and had his eyes at an acceptable level when she turned to face him once more, meeting her look with a small grin “Unless you’d like to help me move the computer tower and monitor down here I’d suggest going upstairs” he stated, holding out his hand that still had mobility of all it’s fingers to take her jacket from her and put in the hall closet or something like that.
He pulled an appalled look at her ‘door open’ comment and continued with asking “What ever would it need to be closed for?” with Butters inspired innocence and another grin. To admit he had actually missed Heidi during her two month long adventure in the land of ice and snow that was Alaska was not something Craig was really prepared for, he had missed her of course but was perfectly okay with never actually saying it out loud.
